I haven't hosted a Budding Blog since MAY!  Today I am showcasing one of my SUPER STAR coworkers, Stender. She just started her blog, as in the bud just formed, four days ago :) Stender is a 5th grade teacher and an EXCELLENT Science teacher.  You can tell by her blog title she is a procrastinator, which why it has taken her so long to jump into the world of blogging.  I hope you will check out her blog and become a follower.

Here is a short introduction to Stender at Procrastinating Preceptor of Precocious Pupils along with some pictures of her classroom:

1. I have been a blog stalker for over a year and always admired the teachers/moms I have been reading about. I also wanted a place I could share as well so...

2. My favorite subjects to teach are science and math. I love teaching math because there is such an ah-ha moment for students, especially when they struggle with math. I love science because I am a HUGE GEEK and science is cool!

3. I am a down and dirty type of teacher. I love hands-on inquiry based or discovery type learning. I challenge and frustrate my students and celebrate with them when they DO finally "get it" because they earned the learning I didn't give it to them.

4. Three interesting facts about me. I am an Army BRAT. I have in my entire life only spent one day not affiliated with the army. I was born into it, served in it, married in it, and finally retired in it! I wouldn't change a single day. I love to run. I am a former Air Traffic Controller, it's how I met my husband. He's a pilot.

5. I do not have TPT store yet but that is in my near future. Keep reading to find out when!

I have spent enough there though.

Now your turn to join the Budding Blog linky!  If your blog has less than 200 followers please link up and show case yourself :)

I can't remember what linky party it was where I first discovered Mandy's blog over at The 4th Grade Journey.  After sharing a few ideas we discovered that we teach in the same school district AND only a  couple of blocks away from each other.  To top it off we discovered that our husbands also use to work together!  What a small world we live in!

Mandy has shared some great activities she has done with her students along with some management tips as well over at her blog.  Hope you stop by and check out her blog and become her newest follower!

The {4th Grade} Journey

1. Why did you start blogging?

I have always loved to look at blogs and all the fabulous pictures teachers post about their day-to-day events. I talk about "teacher stuff" to my husband all the time, who listens but only halfway gets it, so I figured I might as well join the blogging world and blog with people who understand it all!
Love this Fraction Activity
{It's a FREEBIE at her TpT store!}
2. Favorite subject to teach and why?

Math is by far my favorite subject to teach. I love being able to have students figure out solutions for themselves, and math is great for that. I personally learn best by being able to "do," so that carries over in my room.
I LOVED this idea from Mandy's Blog!
3. Describe your teaching style.

I don't know that I can put a name to my style. I frequently change up what I do in my room to add variety. I'd say some of my best lessons are the ones that I change at the last minute and roll with them. I do love to bring excitement and laughter and REAL learning experiences. I have high expectations for my students and they know it. We move around a lot, work with partners almost daily, and when it's time to take a test, we don't stress, we get excited... because we know it's our time to "show off" what we've been practicing for so long.

Mandy and Hubby, sweet picture!

4. Three Interesting Facts about you:

1. It's not official yet, but my husband will *most likely* get stationed in Florida this summer, meaning I'll be leaving NC.. sad face! Eglin Air Force Base, here we (might) come!
2. I have a huge collection of earrings. I buy more earrings than shoes/clothes/purses.
3. Instead of having a big wedding and attempting to get all our families together in one place, we decided to get hitched in Vegas! We still had the ceremony and white dress and all that jazz--only with a wedding planner and WAY less stress!

5. I do have a TpT store.

UPDATE:
I am linking this post up to Bunting, Books, and Brainbridge.

WOW...two post in one day!  Can you tell someone has a lot of time on her hands... :)

In effort to pay it forward for the generous post Diane over at Teaching with Moxie did for me to help increase my followers I am starting a monthly "Budding Blog" showcase.

I am excited that my first "Budding Blog" showcase is for one of my coworkers!  Kelsey over at Growing Gracefully in Third Grade is a first year teacher and on our third grade team.  She has great ideas, technology tips for the classroom, and is really creative.  She just started blogging last week!

About Kelsey

1. Why did you start blogging?
I love to write, and I also LOVE to talk about my "teacher life".  I decided that blogging would be the perfect way for me to combine these two loves for a fun, creative form of expression!

2. Favorite subject to teach and why?
I absolutely love to teach math.  Even though I actually consider myself a stronger reading teacher, I love seeing my little sprouts' faces light up when they truly "get" a math concept!  I also appreciate how most math concepts can be introduced, reinforced, and reviewed with all sorts of games and real-world connections.

3. Describe your teaching style.
I am in my element when my students are genuinely engaged in a lesson.  I encourage my students to ask questions, have fun, and challenge themselves!  I enjoy incorporating games, music, and movement into my instruction.

4. Three interesting facts about you.
      I'm ambidextrous!
I am a nail polish fiend-I have over 200 bottles! I should probably start a nail polish blog, come to think of it.....
I have a TERRIBLE habit of singing out loud to myself...my students are used to me randomly belting out Avett Brothers songs when it's quiet.  Did I mention that I have a voice made for ...silent film?  Oh well, at least I can provide some comic relief during our busy days!

5. Do you have a TpT store?
I do! It's not much at the moment, but it's a little something...

I hope you stop by and check out Kelsey's blog and become her newest follower!
